Verdant Robotics is the new name for this long-running company. We first pitched the idea of an insect-like robot to Dyson in 2012, and the idea still holds true today. We have a number of potential partners now, including a company called Bionicle Robotics and the company Verbatim that was founded by Dr. Paul Stamets.

One of the areas I think is particularly interesting is the potential for the company to create robots that can learn and perform complex tasks in the wild. Verbatim has a number of patents that are filed on a variety of new techniques for building robots from the ground up.
For instance, the company recently patented a new robotic arm that can be installed in a robot and the arm can automatically sense the environment and the user’s hand to automatically perform the task at hand. It will also sense a user’s hand to help the robot perform a particular task.
